Program Details
Legal Requirements as Required By the OHSA and Regulations
Section 25(2)(a),(d) and (h) and Regulation 851 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act include the requirements for training and certification of powered lift truck operators. Training must meet the current CSA Standard B335.
Employers are required to ensure that workers have received instruction, training and testing in the operation of powered lift trucks. Workers must be familiar with the operating procedures of the truck that they will be operating and able to demonstrate competency in accordance with the MLITSD’s “Guideline for the Safe Operation and Maintenance of Powered Lift Trucks”.
Practical Skills Evaluation
Certification of competency requires successful completion of both a written in-class examination and a hands-on skills evaluation. The evaluation fee is $70 per person per assessment. Additional fees may apply for multiple equipment evaluations and locations outside our standard service area. Please contact us for specific coverage details.
Candidates should complete their practical evaluation within 90 days of successfully completing the course.
For IST to conduct the equipment evaluation, participants must ensure:
- They possess sufficient prior experience with each piece of equipment to be evaluated
- All equipment has current annual certification and inspection documentation
- The equipment is properly maintained and functioning correctly

20 Maximum Participants
Training Is Valid For:
3 years from the date of successful completion.
Materials Provided:
Course materials and participant workbooks.

Certificate Issued:
Upon completion, students will be issued a certificate and wallet card showing proof of their training.
