What Is JHSC Part Two?

JHSC Part 2 is the second stage of Joint Health & Safety Committee certification that focuses on workplace-specific hazard identification and control measures. This training builds directly on your Part 1 knowledge, giving you the advanced skills to assess complex safety challenges and develop practical solutions tailored to your specific work environment.

To achieve full JHSC certification in Ontario, committee members must complete Part 2 within twelve months of finishing Part 1. This course meets OHSA requirements while equipping you with the expertise to make meaningful safety improvements in your workplace.

What does CPO Approved mean?

In March 2016, the 2014 Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification Training Standards came into effect meaning that all JHSC Certification training programs and training providers had to be approved by Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer (CPO).

What if I was certified prior to March 2016?

Individuals who were previously certified under the 1996 Standard do not have to take the JHSC Certification — Refresher training every three years.

How long after taking my Part One do I need to take my Part Two?

To become a certified member of a JHSC, you must take the Part Two course within twelve months of completing Part One.
