Course Details
This course provides comprehensive forklift training based on legal and safety requirements. Participants will gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience in:
- Legal Requirements – Safety Act & Regulations
- CSA Standards for Forklifts – Compliance and best practices
- Counterbalance Lifts – Safe operation and handling
- Narrow Aisle Lifts – Maneuvering in confined spaces
- Emergency Response – Safety protocols for incidents
- Refueling & Recharging – Proper fueling and battery maintenance
- Practical Evaluations – Hands-on training and competency assessments
Practical Skills Evaluation
Certification of competency requires successful completion of both a written in-class examination and a hands-on practical skills evaluation to be completed at your workplace or job site. One evaluation is included with all private onsite sessions. Additional fees may apply for multiple equipment evaluations and locations outside our standard service area. For all distance learning sessions a form will be provided and it is up to the employer to complete and deem competency. Please contact us for specific coverage details.
Candidates should complete their practical evaluation within 90 days of successfully completing the course.
For IST to conduct the equipment evaluation, participants must ensure:
- They possess sufficient prior experience with each piece of equipment to be evaluated
- All equipment has current annual certification and inspection documentation
- The equipment is properly maintained and functioning correctly
