The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training & Skills Development (MLITSD) Working at Heights training requirements came into effect on April 1 2015 to serve the purpose of ensuring that workers in the construction sector successfully complete a Working at Heights training program delivered by an approved training provider.
This Training meets and exceeds the new Ministry Of Labour, Immigration, Training & Skills Development’s Working at Heights Training Program Standard
Legal Requirements as Required By the OHSA and Regulations 213 & 297:
Participants will receive training in the following Legislation and Standards. Legislation as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations.
– Occupational Health and Safety Act—Section 25,26,27 & 28 – Regulation 213—Section 21,26

– MLITSD’s Working At Heights Standard
Min & Max Participants:
6 Participants Minimum
12 Maximum Participants
Training Is Valid For:
3 years from the date of successful completion.
Materials Provided:
Course materials and participant workbooks.
Classroom Locations:
Barrie, Ottawa, London, GTA
Certificate Issued:
Upon completion, students will be issued a wallet card showing proof of their training.

Has it been 3 years since your certification?
Working at Heights training is valid for three (3) years from the date of successful completion of an approved program. After three (3) years, all learners who wish to maintain the validity of their Working at Heights training need to successfully complete a refresher training course.
Do You Need Industrial Fall Protection Training?
Industrial Fall Protection training is a 4 hour required program for those working in a non-construction industry and at heights, at a risk of a fall into equipment or liquids or a fall of 3 metres or more.

What is a working at heights certificate required for?
Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act – Ontario Reg. 213 Construction Projects, and O.Reg. 297 , WAH training is required for anyone who works on a construction project and uses any one of the following methods of fall protection: Travel restraint system, fall restricting system, fall arrest system, safety net, work belt, or safety belt.
When will my certification expire?
This initial WAH training is valid for three years from the date of successful completion of an approved program. For continued compliance, employers must ensure workers they employ complete an approved WAH refresher program every three years.
Who needs WAH Training?
Those performing work at heights and also those charged with supervision or management of those workers.
What on the job training is required after my WAH Training?
In addition to classroom based WAH training, employers must train all workers on the fall hazards specific to their jobsite and on the types of fall protection equipment they will use. This training must cover the exact harness, lanyard, energy absorber, rope grab, lifeline, and anchors each worker will rely on, as well as the situations in which the equipment will be used.
