About The Role
The Confined Space Rescue Specialist is a hands-on, field-based role responsible for providing confined space non-entry and entry rescue services, as well as attendant support. You will work directly with clients to identify hazards, implement rescue procedures, and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
This role is individual contributor-focused, requiring a highly skilled and safety-conscious professional who thrives in practical, high-risk environments and takes pride in protecting workers while supporting operational safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply thorough knowledge of provincial and federal legislation and guidelines on confined and restricted spaces, including developing and implementing on-site rescue procedures
- Support the identification of actual and potential hazards within confined spaces that may not have been captured in client assessments, recommending appropriate control measures for entrants, attendants, and rescue teams
- Advise clients on hazards observed during confined space activities to ensure appropriate risk controls are implemented
- Inspect confined space rescue and personal protective equipment, reporting any deficiencies
- Complete confined space entry permits, develop and implement rescue plans, and complete hot work permits as required
- Submit accurate documentation to head office following projects
- Perform and implement non-entry and entry confined space rescue techniques
- Provide First Aid and CPR as required
- Prepare, load, unload, and maintain all equipment related to confined space projects
- Travel to and from client sites; some projects may require long-distance travel and overnight stays
- Participate in client and contractor orientation programs and assigned health and safety training
- Report incidents, injuries, illnesses, or client hazards to your supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Requirements
- Valid provincial driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for transportation
- Maintain facial hair in compliance with CSA Standard 94.4-18 for respiratory protection seal integrity
- Wear assigned clothing and personal protective equipment as required
- Proficient in written and spoken English
